Overview
Clear Site Data is a browser extension that runs on your device. It has no backend and does not transmit browsing data to the developer or to any third party.
Data Clear Site Data accesses
Only when you open the popup or settings, and only as needed:
- URL, title, and favicon of the active tab you invoked
- Cookies for that site after you grant optional host permission
- localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB names, Cache Storage keys, and service worker scopes in that tab
Cookie values are never displayed. Values of localStorage and sessionStorage for the current site can be inspected locally in the Storage inspector on your device. Sensitive-looking values are masked by default until you choose Show value. Values stay local unless you explicitly copy them to your clipboard; nothing is sent to a server by Clear Site Data.
Data Clear Site Data stores
In chrome.storage.local on your computer: appearance and behavior preferences, plus an optional last-action summary containing hostname, category names, and time. Clear Site Data stores no cookie contents, storage contents, or full history logs.
Data that leaves your device
None from Clear Site Data itself. Chrome profile sync, if you use it, is a browser feature. Clear Site Data has no server. There is no analytics, advertising, crash telemetry, or remote configuration.
Permissions
Permissions exist to inspect or delete local site data for the current origin and remember settings. Host permission for cookies is requested per site.
